The MAV, a new dining experience, just opened at the Sunday Bay Resort in Deer Meadows, WA on Lake Roosevelt (located two miles off Highway 25 on the Miles Creston Road). The official name is “The Maverick Pub” but just one look out the dining room windows, or the outside dining terrace, and you will see the Most Amazing View (MAV) and agree that The MAV is a very appropriate title.
The MAV, which opened Memorial Day Weekend 2023, is owned by Steve Emtman. It offers a variety of artisan pizzas, baguettes, salads, and a variety of side dishes. There are also 18 different beers, three red wines, and three white wines as well as specialty soft drinks available; purchase by the glass or by the pitcher. Many specialty beers and domestic beers are managed through a “Digital Pour” board, which is impressive in its own right. You can download the app and see what is available before you arrive at The MAV.
The MAV is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Happy Hour is Thursday and Friday 2-5 p.m. Since they are currently looking to increase waitstaff, customers may have to order at the counter, but food will be delivered to your table inside or outside. Inside, they offer the Red Barn play area for children. Emtman emphasized that this is a place where you can bring your family of all ages.
They currently only accept debit or credit cards. No checks or cash is accepted.
The response from the local community has been very gratifying according to the resort manager, Tanya Lerum. When you ask Emtman questions about the overall operation he defers to Lerum as the brains of the operation. She has been the project manager for the last three years during the development of the resort.
The resort hotel, open year-round, currently boasts 16 modern and well-furnished hotel rooms. Prices start at $99 to $175. WIFI is available in all rooms and the dining area. All rooms have a microwave and refrigerator. There are two rooms with kitchenettes, two rooms with two double beds and one room that is ADA compliant.
Sunday Bay Resort also owns and rents out the Lake House that sleeps 14 people with beach access. You can make your reservations for hotel rooms or the Lake House at the resort’s website gocastaways.mydirectstay.com.
Emtman is very excited that the Sunday Bay Resort is now open for business, but this is just the first phase of a long-range plan to restore the golf course property that has been closed for many years. The entire project will take five or more years to complete. Additional plans include a golf driving range Emtman hopes to open by late summer or early fall and a nine-hole golf course next year that can eventually upgrade to 18 holes. In addition, he plans to add a unique dining experience with gourmet meals prepared by chefs of all backgrounds from the area that features various cuisines to delight your palate. The Henry Haus will be a top-tier restaurant and an upscale meeting facility where corporate, retreat and private events can be held that will seat 50-75 people. It will have a full-service kitchen and specialty wine bar where you can design your own catering package. Emtman is also looking to provide local guides for fishing and hunting trips in the area, open a seasonal farmers market on the grounds, and host fundraisers for various causes.
Emtman’s vision is a grand one but he said he is here for the long haul. He invites you to come and enjoy the vision, and someday play 18 holes of golf on a world-class course. Stop in and check it out for yourself .
