Sponsored by Stevens County and organized by the combined efforts of Loon Lake and Deer Lake Property Owners Associations, this is the fourth year of the program, allowing the community to bring yard debris, leaves limbs, pine needles, and other organic matter to a local common area to be chipped. Chipper Day has been a great, cost-effective alternative to burning or hauling to the transfer station.Â
The Chipper Day location is just north of Baldwin’s Lumber on Agar Road. It is our goal to have volunteers safely assist in unloading each vehicle or trailer as they arrive. The vacant lot is designed with an entrance and exit driveway to help with traffic flow. Absolutely no garbage, lumber, metal, or plastic will be accepted.
We anticipate Chipper Days will again be very popular and very busy this year. Stevens County Solid Waste Department will provide an employee and front-end loader to push debris into one common pile throughout the course of the collection day, maintaining a clear and safe area for the public to unload. The disposal fee is $10 per load with a maximum of $20 for truck and trailer. Proceeds from this event will support one of our local volunteer organizations. Chipper Days information will also be posted at loonlakepoa.net, dlpoa.com, and Nextdoor.com.
