The 38th annual Loonsday 5-mile walk/run will be held Saturday June 5, 2021 with a start time of 9:00AM. The walk begins and ends at the Historical Old Schoolhouse, 4000 Colville Rd, Loon Lake WA.
Background – 38 years ago some local Loon Lake ladies decided rather than participating in Bloomsday, to start their own walk. They got together with some seed money from the Loon Lake Property Association, marked off the route, organized volunteers – and the walk has been going on every year since. Proceeds are donated to community projects ranging from school books for Loon Lake Elementary, Food Bank, donations to the Fire Department and EMS, and improvements to Loon Lake Schoolhouse.
T-Shirt Contest – Entries for the Loonsday T-shirt Design Contest are due by April 15th. Send your design in jpeg format to: Loonsday1@gmail.com and you could win $100!. Include your name and phone number. Sorry, no late entries. Your design must include a Loon, the words “Loonsday 2021”, “38th annual” and “Loon Lake, WA”. Beyond that, use your imagination!
The 5-mile walk – This is not a timed walk. You can walk/run all or part of it. Every age and ability is welcome – including those with strollers and dogs on leashes. Please note there is a short section of unpaved road on the route. There will be two water stations for humans and dogs alike. Garage sales and a Friends of the Library book sale will entice you along the way.
